Coaching

AI coaching for freelancers and small-business owners

One-on-one AI coaching for people who run their own business: freelancers, solopreneurs and small-business owners. You learn what AI really does, then you put AI to work on your own tasks, with me, remotely, in English or French. In practice, it works like private AI lessons: one-on-one AI training, then AI mentoring on your own tasks.

Who is this AI coaching for?

For people who run their own business and want AI to do real work, not just answer questions.

Freelancers, solopreneurs and small-business owners. If you already chat with AI every day but your workload hasn't moved, you are in the right place.

  • No technical background needed: we start with understanding, in plain words, before we touch any tool.
  • No project needed: we start from how you work today, and find together the first task worth taking off your plate.
  • Any time zone: fully remote, from Tokyo, at an hour that fits you.

How does the coaching work?

In two stages: first you understand what AI does, then we practice on your real work.

First, understand

AI literacy, in plain words: what AI really does, and where AI breaks. For example: AI hates a blank and fills it (hallucination); what isn't written doesn't exist for the AI (missing context); AI tells you what you want to hear (sycophancy).

Then, practice

We work together, hands on, on your real work, session after session. You keep your hands on the work the whole time: you build, I review, and you understand what runs.

A session, in practice

We always start with AI literacy: what AI really does and where it breaks. That part is not optional. Then we practice together, on your real work. You type on your side and I follow your shared screen: I guide your prompts and explain why, I comment on what we see, and I show you how to improve it. I am not doing it for you. We do it together, so you leave with the keys.

Four postures, one step at a time

We start where you are, and you go as far as you want.

  1. Operator

You type a prompt, copy the answer, and start again tomorrow. This is where most people stay.

  2. Writer

You give AI the right context, so the AI understands your business.

  3. Manager

You delegate to your own AI assistants, and you check their work.

  4. Architect

You hand whole missions to AI, with Claude Code.

What will you have at the end of the coaching?

AI at work on your real tasks, at the level you chose.

Better everyday use, assistants that know your business, or your own tools. And the know-how to go further without me. We prove the gain with a before and after on your own work, never with a percentage nobody can check.

What does the coaching look like in practice?

Four people who run their own business, four tasks taken off their plate. Clients stay anonymous.

  • Morning routine

    3 hours → 15 minutes

A solopreneur in Taiwan, whom I coached, built his own tools. By his own account, his morning routine went from 3 hours to 15 minutes.

  • Prospecting

    200 prospects, 200 personal pages

A B2B consultant: each prospect researched, then sent a web page built just for them. One week, one person.

  • Email

    3 inboxes, 0 forgotten replies

A real-estate agent: every email sorted each morning, every reply drafted in the agent's own style, sent after one check.

  • Grant research

    Time divided by 10

A consultant in France who helps businesses find the grants that fit them. We built the system together, and the consultant now improves the system on his own. By his own account, his time spent searching the internet and writing the final report is divided by 10.

How much does AI coaching cost?

$140 an hour (US dollars), one on one.

$140 an hour

  • A single hour, or a pack of 5 or 10 hours at a lower rate.
  • No package to commit to: start with one hour. If that hour is not useful, you stop there.
  • No fixed number of sessions: you go at your pace.

The first step costs nothing: a free 30-minute chat.

Why work with Matthias Marin?

Because I build what I teach, and teaching is my job.

Matthias Marin, AI coach in Tokyo

I have used AI every day since late 2022, when I found GPT-3 in OpenAI's Playground. In training, I work with groups; for coaching, I chose one on one, because a group is never personal enough.

I design and build AI automations for businesses: more than 40 of them run in production today, and I have supported 30 businesses since January 2024. I also train teams: right now, 140 developers at a health-software publisher. For Matchers, a French corporate training provider, my learners' evaluations average 10/10, which puts me joint first of nearly 1,000 trainers in its quality ranking.

I am French and based in Tokyo. I coach in English or French, fully remote, at an hour that fits your time zone. And it is me, every session: no hand-off to a junior.

What won't you find in this coaching?

Seven things I don't do.

  • No "AI strategy" deck you will never open.
  • No promise to replace your team.
  • No black box: you build, I review, and you understand what runs.
  • No building before I understand how you work.
  • No percentages nobody can check.
  • No lock-in: one hour at a time if you want.
  • No hand-off to a junior: it's me, every session.

What you tell me stays between us, and clients are never named.

Common questions about AI coaching

How many hours of coaching will I need?

There is no fixed number: some things take less than a session, others take several. We set a first target in the free chat, you start with one hour, and you can stop after any hour.

A few markers, depending on where you start:

  • In 2 hours: you understand why AI lets you down, and you leave with a prompt that works on one of your tasks.
  • In 4 hours: an AI assistant that knows your business (your clients, your tone, your documents).
  • In 10 hours if you are already comfortable with AI, 15 to 20 hours if you are new to AI: a first small project built with Claude Code.

Depending on what you want and what there is to build, a project can of course be more complex and take more hours.

Which AI tools do you work with?

Day to day, almost only Claude Code and n8n. Claude, ChatGPT and Make when the task or what you already use calls for it. The tools change every six months. The method stays.

AI coaching or AI training: what is the difference?

Training brings a group together. I run training too: I can train ten people at once, but never in a perfectly personal way. Coaching is one on one: every minute is about your work, at your pace, and you leave with your own tools. That is why I coach one on one.

Can two or three people take the coaching together?

Coaching is one on one by default. A small group of 2 or 3 people is possible: let's talk about it in the free chat. One on one still brings the most, because the whole session is yours.

How do you start AI coaching?

With a free 30-minute chat. Nothing to prepare.

You tell me how you work, I tell you honestly what AI can and can't do for you. If the coaching fits, you book a first hour. If the coaching doesn't fit, I tell you.
